Professional development is a key component to ensuring successful growth in any career. The Chamber staff has been working to stay on top of the needs of the Wichita Falls business community through economic development, membership recruitment, and retention classes.  These classes help staff learn key aspects to further their skills and support the community.

Taylor Davis, Talent Partnership Director, and Hillary Robinson, Executive Assistant, recently attended the Basic Economic Development course through Texas A&M Engineering Extension. This course covers a broad spectrum of economic development such as workforce development, business retention and expansion, ethics, and business finance.

Adrene Wike, Research Director, attended the Economic Future Forum in Salt Lake City, Utah. Topics included the Future of Workforce, Pioneering New Opportunities, and the Key to Customer Service. All contained valuable information to further her efforts in workforce development and military integration. Her efforts include developing programs for Sheppard Air Force Base military spouses and vets wishing to find new careers, work remotely, or start a business.

Jinna Barrett, Director of Member Relations, Christina Bell, Director of Membership Development, and Rebecca Churchwell, Director of Events, attended the Chamber Institute along with Henry Florsheim, Chamber President & CEO.

The Chamber Institute is a 4-year curriculum teaching organizational management, business development, and effective networking. This gives them opportunities to learn best practices from other communities and proves invaluable as they continue to develop programs for Wichita Falls businesses.

The Wichita Falls Chamber believes providing professional development programs to the business community through programs like B.O.S.S. (Business Owners Sharing Solutions) and the Social Media Summit help our workforce be more informed, better prepared, and always growing.

The Chamber looks forward to continuing and expanding professional development efforts. Plans are in place to work with and grow the Young Professionals group, to combine resources for local workforce and internship initiatives, and to facilitate more connections between employees and employers through partnerships with local entities.

Be sure to follow the Wichita Falls Chamber on Facebook to learn more about upcoming opportunities for professional development, networking events, and business services.
