It can be tough when you move to a new area and are seeking employment. What’s even more difficult is if you are the spouse of an Airmen in Training (AiT) with a stay in Wichita Falls that is typically less than six months. Couple that with the already high rates of un- and under-employment experienced by military spouses nationwide, the odds seem stacked against you.

But there is always hope! Fortunately for military spouses, our community has so many fantastic programs and resources in place to help you be successful. Let’s talk about them!

If your stay in Wichita Falls is looking to be less than a year, you may benefit from temporary employment. Here are a few options:

  • Join Sheppard MSPN Facebook and LinkedIn groups to connect with local career-minded military spouses and review posted job opportunities.
  • Review and update your resume with the Airman & Family Readiness Center.
  • Connect with Military Family Support Liaison at Workforce Solutions North Texas for free job placement support.
  • Register with MyStaf, Spherion and/or Express Employment to search for temporary job opportunities.
  • Review job opportunities on the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce Job Board.

If you need flexible employment opportunities that you can take with you as you PCS, a remote opportunity may be your best fit. Here’s how you can get started:

  • Join Sheppard MSPN Facebook group to connect with local career-minded military spouses and review posted job opportunities and search #remote.
  • Review and update your resume with the Airman & Family Readiness Center.
  • Register with virtual job board, VirtForce.
