It can be tough when you move to a new area and are seeking employment. What’s even more difficult is if you are the spouse of an Airmen in Training (AiT) with a stay in Wichita Falls that is typically less than six months. Couple that with the already high rates of un- and under-employment experienced by military spouses nationwide, the odds seem stacked against you.

If your stay in Wichita Falls is looking to be less than a year, you may benefit from temporary employment. Here are a few options:
- Join Sheppard MSPN Facebook and LinkedIn groups to connect with local career-minded military spouses and review posted job opportunities.
- Review and update your resume with the Airman & Family Readiness Center.
- Connect with Military Family Support Liaison at Workforce Solutions North Texas for free job placement support.
- Register with MyStaf, Spherion and/or Express Employment to search for temporary job opportunities.
- Review job opportunities on the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce Job Board.
If you need flexible employment opportunities that you can take with you as you PCS, a remote opportunity may be your best fit. Here’s how you can get started:

- Review and update your resume with the Airman & Family Readiness Center.
- Register with virtual job board, VirtForce.
- Join the Virtual MSPN Facebook group to connect with nation-wide remote opportunities.
If looking you are looking forward to employment opportunities at your next duty station, you can:
- Join the location’s MSPN Facebook and LinkedIn groups, if they have one, to connect with local career-minded military spouses and review posted job opportunities. Review MSPN locations here.
- Review and update your resume with the Airman & Family Readiness Center.
- Review Federal and NAF job opportunities on USAJobs.
- Review AAFES job opportunities using ShopMyExchange.
- Research companies at your next duty station and create of list of organizations you are interested in. If possible, find contact information for someone in a position you would be interested in and request an informational interview. Tip: do not send them your resume during this process.
- Connect with your personal network to see if they know of any opportunities at the new location.
- Visit reputable job search engines such as LinkedIn, Indeed, Military OneSource, Glassdoor and Google to begin applying for civilian job opportunities.
- Register for a career specialist with your gaining city’s local American Job Center.
