The key to positive economic development is working every day to get the Wichita Falls brand noticed, accepted, and endorsed. We are achieving that in many ways.
One strategy we haven’t touched on is the use of partnerships to strengthen our name recognition. Getting key contacts, prospects, and site consultants to recognize Wichita Falls in a one-on-one environment has proven beneficial. However, utilizing a partnership with Team Texas further enhances our name recognition.
Two recent efforts showcase how this alliance has benefitted.
In late August, Wichita Falls joined with 3 other Texas communities and Samantha Brown of Team Texas to meet with Phoenix-based industries looking to potentially expand to Texas. These meetings were with a number of industries involved in advanced manufacturing, aerospace/aviation, and information technology.
Our role is to promote the assets of Texas, demonstrate our competitive advantages, and highlight the communities/regions we represent.
In mid-September, we were part of a large contingent manning the Team Texas booth at the Fabtech Trade Show. This event is the largest gathering of metal forming, fabricating, welding, and finishing industries in North America.
Not only did we work our trade show booth and tout the benefits of Texas, but we also walked the trade show to directly seek out companies looking to relocate and expand their operations.
We can report we acquired strong prospects from both events, however, like many projects, these are relationships that are cultivated over a long term.
Final thoughts
Texas has a very strong brand and its reputation for being pro-business has been well earned. It only makes sense that Wichita Falls uses the benefits of Texas to increase both our name recognition and industrial prospects.
And it is working.
