Buyer/ Planner

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties include but are not limited to:
Identify procurement needs and trends.
Understand interaction of production scheduling and materials flow to achieve required customer delivery.
Timely and precise processing of purchase orders
Review, update and maintain replenishment systems
Establish and maintain cost reduction, lead time reduction and inventory reduction programs with suppliers to support company goals.
Communication with engineering and quality assurance to interpret and establish technical requirements.
Provide solutions for procurement issues that impact production scheduling.
Train associates on use of replenishment tools.
Maintains a safe working environment by compliance with state and federal safety regulations. Enforces and promotes workplace safety procedures in their departments.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES:
Experience with procurement in the manufacturing industry.
Experience with replenishment systems such as kanban, visual signals, etc.
Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
Strong multitasking and communication skills..
Application of ABS / Lean principles in performing tasks.
Strong analytical skills
Experience working with standard office programs and data bases.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE CREDENTIALS:
BS degree in procurement/ planning or related field preferred.
Minimum 4 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably including aerospace and defense related products
