BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to provide professional level administrative and technical support to City Staff and employees in all subject areas of human resources. This is accomplished by providing services to internal and external customers. Daily work will place an emphasis on employee relations, recruitment, performance management, compensation and classification, and training. These services support the implementation of specific human resources related endeavors. Occasional rotating on-call assignment for Risk Management.

1 L Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice
2 L Provides professional level administrative support in best practices associated with employment (fair hiring, recruitment, selection, etc.), employee relations (internal investigations, EEO, climate assessments, etc.), compensation & classification (reclassification, etc.), performance management (evaluations, discipline, etc.), training (course development, scheduling, tracking, etc.).
3 L Provides assistance to internal and external customers by responding to inquiries from internal staff and citizens, reviewing and researching information requested.
4 L Required to meet with City supervisors and employees throughout the City to provide ongoing support and training in human resources.
5 L Responds to relevant report requests from state and federal oversight entities (i.e. EEOC, DOL, unemployment claims and appeals, etc.).
6 L Other related duties as assigned to include special project work, Civil Service Testing and occasional evening/weekend work. Coordinates special projects by reviewing and entering information and data, coordinating events with employees and departments and publicizing events. Provides on-call assistance for Risk (approx. every 6 weeks).
7 M Participates in events and community groups as required.

Experience-Related Requirements – Over one year and up to and including two years.
Vocational/ Educational Preparation – Requires Bachelor’s degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college education in Human Resources, social sciences, business, liberal arts.
Physical Demands – Sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis; or sustained keyboard operations.
Unavoidable Hazards – None. Works in environmentally controlled situation such as office.
